Press Release PIMCO Hires Stephen Chang as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager Hire underscores Asia investment potential and the firm’s commitment to growth in the region
Hong Kong, (April 18, 2018) – PIMCO, one of the world’s premier fixed income investment managers, has hired Stephen Chang as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager. Mr. Chang will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Rob Mead and Tomoya Masanao, both Managing Directors and Co-heads of Portfolio Management in Asia Pacific and, to Mohit Mittal, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager based in Newport Beach. Mr. Chang starts on May 7. Mr. Chang has 22 years of investment experience and was most recently a Managing Director and Head of Asian Fixed Income at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. During his tenure, he successfully grew investment portfolios across Asia-dedicated mandates. Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Chang will take on a leadership role across PIMCO’s Asia Portfolio Management team and the firm’s dedicated fixed income portfolios in Asia. Mr. Chang will work closely with PIMCO’s Asian Credit Research team, which is led by Raja Mukherji, Executive Vice President and Head of Asian Credit Research. “Stephen brings a wealth of investment experience, extensive client relationships and deep knowledge of Asian markets, making him a tremendous addition to the firm. Biography - Stephen Chang, CFA Stephen Chang is an executive vice president and portfolio manager in the Hong Kong office, with a leadership role across PIMCO’s Asia Portfolio Management team and the firm’s dedicated fixed income portfolios in Asia. Prior to joining PIMCO, Mr. Chang was most recently a managing director and head of Asian Fixed Income at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, having joined in 2004. Before that, he also worked with Royal Bank of Scotland in Hong Kong and Fischer Francis Trees & Watts in New York. Mr. Chang has 22 years of investment experience and has a B.Sc. in computer science from Cornell University, and an M.Sc. in management science from Stanford University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
